It's Removeable!
Have you ever wanted something on a wall but didn't want to pay the price for it at the store? Or like me, you name 2 of your children names that are not the norm? (Sariah and Conor - only one n - could never find anything) I WISH I had a Silhouette or Cricut 2 decades ago! Cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette have made it so much easier to create personal images and designs for your home or even school without it costing you the child you are designing the room for!
"What? How? Okay, wait .... what! But will it destroy my wall? I mean, this stuff goes on glassware and cars, so again won't it destroy my walls?"
The answer to the last part is NOPE! There are different types of adhesive vinyl. Adhesive or PSV (pressure-sensitive vinyl) is sticky on the back and smooth and non-sticky on the front. Within Adhesive/PSV it is important to know that there are two different types, Permanent and Removeable.
Permanent vinyl is for your cups, cars, and outdoor signs. Honestly, it is for anything that is going to come in contact with water and the exterior elements.
Removeable is just that - removeable. Removeable is usually a Matte color and is a bit thinner and has less tack than permanent. So this makes it great for walls, indoor windows, and indoor signs! I have also used it on the bottom of peek-a-boo glasses. You can do so much with removeable vinyl and you can have so much fun with it!
When looking for a removeable product always assume that if it doesn't say that it is permanent vinyl it is removeable. A great example would be the stuff from the dollar stores. We carry Oracal 631. The great thing about Oracal is that they go through the process of taking out the stuff that makes the nasty chemical smell you get with other adhesives.
A trick for when you remove it - use a hair dryer - seriously it will make your life so much more pleasant and you may (Can't guarantee this) make it so those extra special not used around children words aren't used. I would say that you won't need a glass of wine - but who am I kidding - crafting and wine go hand in hand.
If you are still wondering what you can create with removeable vinyl here are more ideas!
turning shelves into a child's play kitchen
decorating your mixer, laptop, iPad, mouse, cutting machine
adding detail to your cupboards
labeling drawers or storage bins
indoor signs
Halloween props to go with your costume
If you are still looking for ideas, two amazing places to generate ideas are Pinterest and YouTube. (I can't guarantee the ideas will be turned into projects as my list of ideas keeps growing NOT shrinking lol)
Here is a video I found of a female YouTube host. She does a bedroom from start to finish. Click the image below and it will take you to the video. I chose this image because it was the first wall decal I put in my new office area and it is something I have come to accept in my almost mid-century life!
Happy crafting y'all!
